Trade Agro: Containerised Commodity Exports Company in Brazil
Eduardo Figueiredo, Managing Director of Trade Agro, gives an overview of the company. Trade Agro was founded 10 years ago to export cotton for textiles. Then the company began to focus on cotton seeds for animal feed, acting in the niche market of containerised exports.
“Egypt is very capable when it comes to milling. We have mills that produce excellent quality. They are capable and some of them even export to Africa. This is as far as flour milling is concerned. As for pasta, we are also very capable and we also export to Africa. Egyptian rice, on the other hand, is one of the best kinds of rice in the world.”
“We started by my older brother in Lebanon back in 1957. We are 鈥渃hicken鈥� people. Poultry is our life – we eat, sleep and breathe it; we know everything about poultry… Apart from poultry, Wadi Group has been growing in the food sector, particularly olive oil, fresh vegetables and fruits grown particularly for export.”

Egypt’s agriculture is composed mainly of two segments: the larger agribusiness operations growing produce on a large scale and the smaller traditional family farms that account for 80% of the cultivated land in the country.
“Our target is to finish this project over the next five years. It will cover a total of about 25,000 acres, growing mostly wheat, corn, alfalfa and barley and a little bit more table grapes and dates,” reveals Daniel Leroux, CEO of KADCO Egypt.
